Etiquette Classes
Dining Etiquette (Children's class 8-15 ) (Adult class 16 and up)
Do you sometimes wonder what rock your 15 year old climbed out from under
when they sit down at the dinner table? Have you tried to teach your young
ones table manners and they just don't listen or think you're being too harsh on
them? Who cares anyway? Right?
Wrong! I am here to tell you that your young one's future could depend on
his/her personal social and etiquette skills. Think I'm kidding? In today's
society, a lot of business decisions are made over lunch or dinner meetings.
Table manners are not rocket science, however, you do want your young ones
to go off into the world with some graciousness and poise at the table when
out in the publics eye. Now is the time to teach them.
How about you? Do you get embarrassed or intimidated when asked to dinner
for a special date or just out with friends at a snazzy restaurant? You are never
too old to learn new tricks.
Our dining etiquette classes are interactive and include real food. Students will
learn:
- Overall conduct. Teach them how to not embarrass themselves (or you)
when out at formal dinners or even with just friends of the family.
Includes No-no's at the table.
- Proper utensil usage. Ever notice all those utensils in front of you and
you don't want everyone to think this is your first ball game? We'll show
you which utensil to use for what.
- When its okay to start eating when you have a large group of people or
just a few.
- What to do when you bite into something you don't like. I know the
parents right now that are thinking how many times they've been
embarrassed because their little one made this horrible face and
yelled, "ooh, that's disgusting!!!" and spit out their food in front of
everyone. There is a way to handle this properly and we'll show them how.
- American and Continental Style. How to hold your utensils. What's
appropriate and what's not.
- How to properly cut your food.
- What to do if you drop a napkin or utensil on the floor.
- What's "finger licken" proper and what's not.
- How to share there's a hair or something that is not suppose to be in
your food.
- How to let your waiter know you are finished without throwing your
napkin in your plate, which by the way is extremely rude!!!!
- How to eat certain foods.
Dining can be a lot of fun when you are equipped with the right tools! These
teachings will also make you more comfortable sending your young one's
away for a sleep over at a friends house. It will also give them confidence in
their behavior skills and prepare them for any situation including improvisation
if need be. Maybe you don't know the proper ways to show your child and you'd
like a little guidance yourself. After all, we aren't born equipped with these
manners. So, we are here to help!
